The Central Plains Capitals bounced back from Saturday's loss with a shootout win over Eastman today in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

The Caps dominated their opponents in the first but couldn't find the back of the net. They finished the period with 10 shots to the Selects' 4.

They exchanged goals 41 seconds apart in the second. Defenceman Lane Taylor scored first for the Capitals, Matthew Osadick scored for the Selects. Central Plains was again the better team in the second frame but were only rewarded with one goal.

Every time one team scored it seemed the other would bounce right back to tie things up. Caps' defender Jared Hulme scored an even-strength goal to make it 2-1, but the Selects lit the lamp just under two minutes later to tie the game. Next, it was Eastman's turn to take the lead, this time with 1:21 remaining in the game. Hulme stepped up and scored with 42 seconds left remaining in the game shorthanded to send the game into extra time.

Overtime solved nothing so the teams separated for a shootout. Dawson Braun was the only shooter that managed to find the twine, and the Caps walked away winners. Riley Sveistrup picked up the win in net stopping 25 of 28 shots he faced.

They're back in action Wednesday when they host Yellowhead.
