The Central Plains Capitals won 6-1 over the Parkland Rangers during yesterday's Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League game at the PCU Centre in Portage La Prairie. This was the first time these teams have played each other this season and Coach Brad Gnidziejko says they weren't sure what to expect.

"We hadn't done any advanced scouting so we weren't sure what to expect. They worked hard, they're a good team, but when we play together we're a tough team to play against too. It came out in our favour today, which was nice."

He notes the game was close early on, with the Capitals having to deal with a few penalties, but once they gained a little momentum the game flowed in their favour.

The Capitals' six goals were scored by a mix of players and Coach Gnidziejko says they have been seeing scoring from everyone on the team. He adds it's not necessarily something they focus on.

"We just tell the kids if we do the little things and if we work with the systems that we give them, the little things will pay off. The goals that we get are a byproduct of doing the little things right and I couldn't be happier with how we're doing in that regard."

Gnidziejko adds it's amazing how quick a team can come together, noting this year's team is a hard working group who plays well together.
