The PCI Saints held out for a 2-1 decision over Kelvin today in Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey at the BDO Centre.

The Saints got out to a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Bailey Grantham and Cassidy George. Their game seemed to veer off course in the second as they struggled to get any structure set up in either zone. Kelvin would add a goal later in the 3rd period, but the Saints would hold them off until the final buzzer. Head Coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie says some key players were out of the line-up and it started to show later in the game.

"The first half of the first period we were playing a good puck moving and team game, then for some reason it became a little bit of an individual game and everyone was getting in each other's way."

Gillespie says they showed determination to get the victory and credits their goalie for her stellar play.

"It's nice that we battled and hung on for that win. I liked Morgan Klassen's game, it was one of the most calm, and focused games that I have seen her play and it was nice to see."

The Saints are back in action tonight when they visit Lorette. The last time they met the Saints won 15-0, the Scorpions have figured out their goalie situation and expects a much tighter battle tonight. That game goes at 4 p.m. in Lorette.
