With the recent massacre happening in Las Vegas, travel safety is top of mind for lots of Manitobans planning a holiday. Brenda Webber is the owner of Total Travel in Portage la Prairie and says she doesn't think people will stop travelling there, but you can count on seeing an increase of security at hotels and airports.

"We haven't seen a huge impact," says Webber. "I think people are maybe a little more cautious when they're doing their planning. Things happen everywhere. It's unfortunate that something this big happened in Vegas, which is so popular and somewhere we like to go."

Webber explains they receive daily reports from their suppliers, and in one of those reports they were told many hotels in Las Vegas will now be installing metal detectors. Webber stresses that it's important to buy travel insurance because in a situation like this you would be covered for medical treatment, and for a family member to come by your side.
