The Portage Rotary luncheon highlighted a presentation from Portage and District Arts Centre executive director Lori Blight today. It was one of Blight's last efforts with the Centre seeing as she's retiring.

"I am stepping down from the Portage and District Arts Centre. I am retiring. I'm going to take some time off, and do a little bit of traveling and perhaps see what happens for fall. They have, I believe, hired somebody. I haven't met him yet, but he is supposed to be starting next week I believe."

She recounts her times with the Centre.

"It's been a really fun job. It's a very busy place to work, but it's interesting. There's always something new happening every day. It requires a lot of energy. It's great meeting all the people that come and visit the Arts Centre. I mean, people come here from basically all over the world to see the different exhibitions. We get a lot of  tourists in the summer. And the artists are all wonderful that you meet -- very unique. Each individual's different. Each exhibit that comes in is very interesting. I love the way the different exhibitions that come into the gallery transforms it and makes it an entirely different space every time. So, I 'm going to miss that. I'm going to miss the people. But I m looking forward to some time off and doing a little bit of traveling."
