The Portage Regional Recreation Authority (PRRA) highlighted four significant events that took place over 2018. General Manager David Sattler gives an outline.

"One was the reopening of the Delta Beach Campground," says Sattler. "In early 2018, PRRA took over management of the campground for the RM of Portage. This is our first year doing it. We opened it on Canada Day long weekend this year. And we had a very, very successful year out at the campground. So, there were a lot of learning curves, seeing it's the first time we've ever managed the campground."

He notes hiring recreation manager Angie Shindle in late 2017 saw 2018 give her a good handle on marketing their services.

Sattler says the reopening of the pool in late 2017 provided 2018 with full operation of the newly renovated facility. He notes they're excited for the pool's future as well.

"We did some more large improvements to the hardball baseball diamonds at Rotary Republic," continues Sattler. "We received a donation for scoreboards. So, on Diamonds Seven and Eight there'll be scoreboards up for the start of the season. As well, we did some infield work on Diamond Seven, so it's now the same size as Eight. We can accommodate more teams. We leveled it out."

He notes that made the area feel more like a topnotch facility. Sattler says it was already great, but aesthetics didn't match the field's quality.
