The Prairie Cattle Marketing Report covers data from  Manitoba Agriculture, Saskatchewan's Ministry of Agriculture and CanFax with all prices reported in per hundred weights.

The last report out of Manitoba showed feeder steer prices ranged from an average of $459.70 for the 401 to 500-pound weights to $291.25 for the 901 + category

Feeder heifer prices ranged from an average of $398.80 for the 401 to 500 pounds to $252.50 for the 901 + category

Saskatchewan steer prices ranged from  $475.17 for the 300-400l weight category down to $329.61 for the 800-900 pounders

Feeder heifer prices ranged from $408.67 for the 400-500 weights down to $307.33 for the 800-plus category.

The Canfax price for Alberta fed steers on the week ending March 1st was $234.24 up $1.28 from last week

Slaughter cow prices increased last week in Manitoba with D1-D2 cows averaging $135.40 per cwt, and D3's averaging $117.50.

Alberta D2 cows averaged $162.44 per cwt and $ 141.11 per cwt for D3.

Checking the feed grain price - Lethbridge barley was reported at $282.50 per tonne for the week ending March 15th, up from the $277.50 paid the previous week and down substantially from the $412.50 per tonne producers paid during the same week in 2023.
