It was a busy night of high school volleyball around the region last night.

The PCI Saints fell to St. Mary's in 3 straight sets in the West Winnipeg Athletic Conference. The Saints were ranked 5th in the province heading into the match, while St. Mary's is ranked 1st. Varsity Saints' Kassidy Cunningham says they need to forget the loss and move on.

"A loss like that happens to everyone, and you really can't always do much about it. We can play much better, we just didn't have out stuff together."

The junior varsity Saints went the distance with St. Mary's, falling in the 5th and final set. The Saints cracked the top 10 in the province this week at number 9, and Head Coach Tricia Elliot couldn't be happier for her team's achievement.

The JV Saints still celebrate after their tough loss to St. Mary's.

"It was our goal, just to get into that top 10. If we can't win our division we at least want to have a wild card chance at it. So hopefully, we just stay the way we are."

The PCI Trojans are in WWAC action tonight. Both the varsity and junior varsity Trojans host St. Paul's in Portage. It should be a tough match for both clubs at St. Paul's is ranked 1st in varsity and 7th in JV. The JV Trojans are up first at 5 p.m. The varsity boys go at 6:30.

The Westpark Royals' varsity girl's club fell in 3 straight sets to St. Jean-Baptiste in Zone 4 volleyball in Portage. Royals' Jessica Alford discusses a few of their faults.

Alford with a big hit for Westpark last night

"We were having problems adjusting to some of the hits and serves. I think that was our lowest point in the game though, and other than that, this being our first league game I think we did pretty good."

The Royals' varsity boys also lost last night in Zone 4 action. They fell to Rosenort on the road. The Royals' varsity clubs are back on the court Thursday when they host Rosenort.

In Zone 7 varsity volleyball the MacGregor Mustangs' girls won in 3 straight sets over William Morton. Both teams' varsity boys were also scheduled to face off, but that game was postponed to a later date.
