The provincial government's being pressured to provide full cost of living adjustments for retired teachers. 

The Retired Teachers Association of Manitoba wants 2.2 per cent -- they're currently getting about 0.64 per cent. 

Portage Chapter President Morris Boychuk is dubious about anything changing until there's a change of government, or until the current government is convinced to pay the COLA. 

He notes there's been a significant effect on teachers' pensions, especially those who've been retired the longest. 

Boychuk's seen hardship experienced by some local retired teachers.
