It's not the way anyone would ever want to start their day. A local family was awakened by neighbours down the street alerting them their truck was engulfed in flames sitting just outside of the home's garage.

That was the scene around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of 4th St NW. While the truck is a complete loss, everyone was able to get to safety and no injuries were reported. The heat from the blaze though did cause extensive damage to the siding of the truck owner's home and the neighbours', as well. The family's other vehicle sitting beside the truck also suffered damage.

The Portage la Prairie Fire Department was credited with arriving quickly and minimizing the possible damage from the blaze that appears to have started under suspicious circumstances. As of 7:45 a.m., RCMP and the fire department remain on the scene to make sure the fire is completely out.
